Mr. David L. "Possum" Phillips, Sr., age 83, of Franklin passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. He was born in Lowell, Georgia on Friday, January 8, 1937. Mr. Phillips was the son of the late, Glynn Phillips and the late, Mattie Sue (Tyson) Phillips. Besides his parents, Mr. Phillips was also preceeded in death by siblings: Junior Phillips of Salem, Missouri, Janice Cox of Conyers, Georgia, Betty McKay of McDonough, Georgia & Bobby Phillips of Carrollton.
Mr. Phillips made a career as owner and operator of Triple A Transmission in Carrollton.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Dean) Phillips of Franklin; his son and daughter-in-law, David Phillips, Jr. and Nichol Phillips of Salisbury, North Carolina; his daughter and son-in-law, Tisa and David Herb of Franklin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Melba Phillips of Newnan and Gary and Beverly Phillips of Dallas; two sisters, Joyce Turner of Colorado and Doris Livingston of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Trey Phillips and Olivia Phillips of North Carolina, Chase Herb of Franklin and a number of other relatives.
In accordance with Mr. Phillips’ wishes, he will be cremated.
