Mr. Duke Nelson Hales, age 60, of Villa Rica passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024. He was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on January 24, 1964. Mr. Hales was the son of the late, Duke Hales and the late, Vicki Alexander. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hales is preceded in death by his brother, Joey Cox.
Nelson was a member of Church on the Word in Douglasville. Mr. Hales was skilled in many trades and made his career as a Handyman. He enjoyed going to Church, listening to many genres of music, was a talented drummer, and an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan. Nelson was known as a “problem solver”, helping anyone he could.
Survivors include his sons, Bradley Hales of Alabama and Timmy Hales of Tupelo, Mississippi; his daughter, Allie Hales of Alabama; his sister, Vicki Lyn Hales of Lawrenceville; his aunts and uncles, John and Janie Alexander, Jerry and Patricia Murphy, and Johnny and Wanda Watkins. Nelson is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and a number of other relatives.
In accordance with Mr. Hales’ arrangements, he will be cremated.
The family will host a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11 A.M. at Church on the Word in Douglasville with Pastor John Alexander officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday, June 1, 2024, prior to the service, from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. A time of fellowship with the family will also follow at the Church, immediately after the service.
