Mr. Franklin Eugene Sherbert, age 73, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. He was born in Temple on Saturday, November 2, 1946. Mr. Sherbert was the son of the late, Walter Young Sherbert and the late, Ruby (Kilgore) Sherbert. Besides his parents, Mr. Sherbert is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Lewis) Sherbert and his sister, Shirley Shaw.
Mr. Sherbert made a career working in landscaping and woodworking. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. During his walk with God he witnessed to many, helped many in need and did all he could to win souls for Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his son, Joel Eugene Sherbert of Villa Rica; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gina and Phil Jackson of Temple, Gloria Sherbert of Tennessee and Angela and Marvin Brown of Villa Rica; one brother, Larry Sherbert of Temple; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Due to the current COVID 19 restrictions, a private family graveside service will be conducted on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 11A.M. (Central Standard Time) at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Fruithurst, Alabama with Reverend Allen Williams officiating. Music will be provided by Christie Williams, Crystal Thomas and Mr. Sherbert’s children.
Honorary pallbearers include Allen Sherbert, Zach Morris, Justin Ghorley, Ben Briscoe, Jesse Pope, Nathan Shaw, Matthew Hurley, Wayne Sherbert, Steve Vines, and Dennis Shaw.
Guests may come by the cemetery prior to the service from 10:30A.M (CST) until 11:00A.M. (CST). Due to the current Alabama COVID 19 restrictions, only 10 people are allowed at the graveside. Guests must remain inside their vehicle and may drive by the graveside to pay their respects and the funeral home staff will bring the register book to them to sign. Graveside services will be livestreamed on our funeral home facebook page for those who would like to watch the service online.
The family will be accepting flowers. However, for those who would like to make a donation, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in honor of the Sherbert family.
Messages of condolence can be made to the family by signing the online guestbook/tribute wall.
