Gloria Marie (Carver) Grooms

Evangelist, Gloria Marie (Carver) Grooms, age 66, of Temple passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. She was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on Wednesday, February 9, 1955. Ms. Grooms was the daughter of the late, Glenn Edward Carver and the late, Rebecca Christine (Spake) McDonald. In addition to her parents, Ms. Grooms is preceded in death by her husband, James O. Horton; her sons, Richard Eugene Barbee and Michael Wayne Jenkins; and by one brother, Kenneth McDonald.

Ms. Grooms made a career as a Certified Cosmetologist. She enjoyed going to Church and serving the Lord as an Ordained Evangelist. Ms. Grooms loved her family dearly, including her two chihuahuas.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Robert McGaha of Temple; her daughter-in-law, Heather Kincaid of Enochville, North Carolina; one brother, Tim McDonald of Midland, North Carolina; two sisters, Tammy Hook of Concord, North Carolina and Patricia Smira of Mississippi; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, Ms. Grooms will be cremated.
