Julia Ruth (Barbour) McPhail

Mrs. Julia Ruth (Barbour) McPhail, age 88, of Carrollton passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. She was born in Blue Mountain, Alabama on March 30, 1935. Mrs. McPhail was the daughter of the late, Lewis Barbour and the late, Culver Dorine (Roberts) Barbour. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McPhail is preceded in death by her husband, Buddy L. McPhail, by her son, George E. McDowell, by two daughters, Shelia A. Taylor and Sharon Severa, and by her brothers, James Roberts and Charles Roberts.

Mrs. McPhail worked until the age of 75 as a Master Grill Cook for Waffle House. She loved a good joke and was known for her quick wit and her wonderful sense of humor. Julia was a people person and never met a stranger. She received much enjoyment from playing slot machines on both her tablet and in person. Above all, Mrs. McPhail loved her family, and she will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Honey of Carrollton; her grandchildren and their spouses, Keith(Shannon) Fulcher of Douglasville, Dawn(Chris) Henry of Rockmart, Corey(Reanna) Whitlock of Carrollton, Billy(Christy) Taylor of Delta, Alabama, Cody Severa, Tyler(Destiny) Severa, and Sonia Severa; her great-grandchildren, Grant Henry, Rayon Powell, Kelsi Powell, Kayden Whitlock, Hadlee Whitlock, Alex Severa, Lizzie Severa, Alan Severa, Delia Severa, and a number of other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a number of other relatives.

In accordance with Mrs. McPhail’s wishes, she will be cremated.
