Mrs. Linda Lea Powell , age 66, of Villa Rica passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday, September 21, 1948 and the daughter of the late John Gillon Sr. and the late Ann Gilroy Wells Gillon.
Mrs. Powell was a retired Special Education Teacher from Lithia Springs High School and was a talented artist. She enjoyed drawing, painting, and playing the piano. Mrs. Powell was also member of both the Douglas and Cobb County Art Guilds and sold her paintings internationally. Above all else she loved her family and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include her son James Powell of Smyrna; Daughter Lea Anne Powell of Houston, Texas; One brother and sister-in-law, John Jr. and Eanne Gillon of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Two sisters and one son-in-law, Susan and John Crafts of Richmond, Virginia and Maryann Harrison of Alabama; One grandson Benjamin Powell of Winston Salem, North Carolina and a number of other relatives.
In accordance with Mrs. Powell’s wishes she will be cremated and the family will have a Memorial Gathering at a later date.
