Mrs. Mildred (Wood) Clonts, age 93, of Temple passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024. She was born in Ringgold, Georgia on June 12, 1931. Mrs. Clonts was the daughter of the late, Thomas M. Wood, Jr. and the late, Virginia (Cashion) Rowell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clonts is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Berlyn Clonts; by two brothers, Thomas Wood and Kenneth Wood; and by her stepdaughters, Susan Faulk, Dianne Hickman, and Elaine Ruud.
Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Eddy and Brenda Patrick of Bremen; her daughter and son-in-law, Chinita and Guy Hayden of Powder Springs; one brother, Wayman Wood of Lennox; one sister, Jean Wood of Loganville; her grandchildren, Jesse Hambrick, Jr., Heather Reece, Tondie Deutsch, Jay Gann, and Jan Gann; her great-grandchildren, Ivy Holloway, Myia Kilgore, Keerston Holloway, Noelle Hambrick, Reid Rhodes, Isabella Hambrick, Lilliana Reece, Knight Reece, Oak Reece, Alexandre Deutsch, Garbiel Deutsch, Arthur Deutsch, Hannah Gann, Noah Gann; her great-great-grandchildren, Ronin, King, and Nova Rhodes, Rimmy, Ellis, Jetson, Samson, and Chancelor Holloway and a number of other relatives.
In her early twenties, after the birth of her two children, Mildred worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. From there she worked for the Atlanta Army Depot as a bookkeeper eventually working for various other companies managing and analyzing accounts up to retirement age. Her God-given talents in life were singing, which she did often growing up and into adulthood. She sang at many church services with her father and her brother Tom. She loved directing adult and children’s choirs and teaching both her son and daughter to sing. This is where their great love of music comes from. Up to her last days Mildred was singing in her hospital bed. She’s probably conducting a choir in Heaven as we speak.
