Ruby Bonita Craven, Norcross, GA, passed away February 2, 2018, at WellStar Hospital, Douglasville, GA, after a year-long battle with small cell lung cancer. She was born in Franklin, GA, on March 9, 1953, to the late Reuben O. (Dad) Craven and the late Missouri Adams Craven of the Simpson Community in Heard County, GA.
Bonita graduated from Heard County High School with the Class of 1971. She worked in the food service industry for over 40 years and was renowned in that area as a ‘troubleshooter’ and was often sent to struggling locations to turn the operation around and be profitable. One of her most endearing qualities was that she accepted everyone and never tried to impose her beliefs on them or change them. She truly loved people, but when one of the younger co-workers did something they should not, she was the first to tell them!
The youngest of five siblings, she is survived by Sybil Craven Jones and her husband, Paul; Estelle Craven Jackson and her husband Malcolm; Wendell (Pap) Craven and his wife Shirley, and Janice Craven Marshall; her nieces and nephews Dean (Melissa) Jackson, Derek Jones, David Jackson, Beth Craven Boatwright, Melissa Craven Nichol, Melinda Craven (Andrew) Thomas, and Jennifer Marshall (Marshall) Dees and great nieces and nephews Emily, Brian, Hadley, Caroline, Jack, Reeves, Brinson, Adam, Kylie, Anna Frances, Virginia, and Nathan.
Also surviving is her beloved fur baby cat, Oliver, a rescue that gave her great joy and peace during her battle.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Ephesus Community Center, Ephesus, GA, at 12:30 on Saturday, February 10, 2018, followed by a graveside service at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00.
Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Temple, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
