Mr. Stephen Clay Martin, age 66, of Bremen passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. He was born in Albemarle, North Carolina on Wednesday, April 23, 1951. Mr. Martin was the son of the late Jessie Pines Martin and the late Annie Huneycutt Martin. Besides his parents, Mr. Martin is also preceded in death by his brother, David Martin and by one sister, Nancy Efird.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Jo (Smith) Martin of Bremen, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Derek Martin and Yaremi Del Rio of Alpharetta, Georgia and Joel David Martin and Lisa Marie Martin of Albemarle, North Carolina; three daughters and one son-in-law, Paula Faye Moore and Mark Moore of Franklin, North Carolina, Nikki Chapman and Misty Bridges both of Bremen, Georgia; one sister, Sherry Martin of Albemarle, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; Scott Chapman, Zachary Causey, Amber and Lonnie Roy, Anna Moore, Ava Martin, Sidney Moore, Blake Bridges, Cameron Martin, and Ethan Moore; special family friends, Deborah and Billy Nunn of Charlotte, North Carolina as well as a number of other relatives.
Mr. Martin was a graduate of North Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Buchanan, Georgia as well as a member of Yadkin Falls Masonic Lodge #637 A.F.&A.M. in Badin, North Carolina. He was also a deacon at Paul's Crossing Baptist Church in Richfield, NC. Mr. Martin worked the majority of his career as a Master Claims Adjuster for Nationwide and later in life worked as a General Adjuster for W.F. Nunn Company Incorporated. Steve loved the outdoors with a love for fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed wood working in his spare time and was an avid reader. He was a certified scuba diver and loved traveling with his wife and friends enjoying his underwater adventures.
In accordance with Mr. Martin’s wishes, his body will be cremated.
The family will host a gathering at their residence on June 17, 2017 at 3:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm followed by dinner and a Bluegrass celebration.
