Mr. Tom Arnett, Sr., age 86, of Carrollton passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was born in Piedmont, Alabama on December 31, 1937. Mr. Arnett was the son of the late, Paul J. Arnett, Sr. and the late, Fanny (Allred) Arnett. In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnett is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Frankie Delano (Wier) Arnett; by his brothers, Robert Arnett and Paul “P.J.” Arnett, Jr.; and by his sisters, Dorothy James and Carla Jo Billingsly.
Mr. Arnett served in the United States Army. Following his service in the military, Mr. Arnett retired from CSX Railroad as a Trainman after 30 years of service. Tom was a member of Midway United Methodist Church in Douglasville, the American Legion, The United Transportation Union Local 1598, and a 60-year member of Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge #96 F&AM of Piedmont, Alabama. When he was able, Mr. Arnett enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and growing tomatoes in his garden. Above all, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, and he will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dave and Lauria Arnett of Carrollton and Tom Arnett, Jr. of Dallas. Mr. Arnett is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and a number of other relatives.
In accordance with Mr. Arnett’s wishes, he will be cremated.
The family will conduct a Memorial Service at a later date.
