William "Bill" Thomas Wanke

Mr. William “Bill” Thomas Wanke, age 77, of Temple passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021. He was born in Queens, New York on Wednesday, April 26, 1944. Mr. Wanke was the son of the late, Arthur Wanke, Sr. and the late, France (Smith) Wanke. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wanke is preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Wanke, Jr., his sister, Mary Davidson, and by his son-in-law, Alan Johnston.

Mr. Wanke was a Plumber by trade but was also known as a skilled craftsman, being able to build anything. He had a very artistic eye for projects and was willing to help anyone in need. Bill was loved by everyone and could start a conversation with anyone. Mr. Wanke was very patriotic and proud of his service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl (Kenny) Wanke of Temple; his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lana Wanke of Saginaw, Texas; his daughter, Janine Johnston of Carrollton; six grandchildren, Danielle Wanke, Dylan Wanke, Ethan Wanke, Bethany Johnston, Gabriel Johnston, Daniel Johnston and a number of other relatives.
